Opening hours at Midsummer
On Thursday, June 20, the day before Midsummer's Eve, libraries are open
10:00-17:00. The Mobile library operates until 13:30.
On Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22, libraries are closed.
Popular books borrowed for one week
The Library now has a collection of very popular new books that may be
borrowed for just one week. These books cannot be reserved or renewed. In
addition to the Main Library, the Ahtiala, Kärpänen and Laune branches also
have these new collections. At least at the moment all the books are in
Finnish. Come and visit the Library and see what happens to be available!
Jalkaranta and Liipola branches closed
The Jalkaranta and Liipola branch libraries have been closed on May 17,
2013. The libraries have been operating in school buildings, which will be
taken down. The Liipola library will get temporary space in the Liipola
Parish Hall in September 2013. Both libraries will be reopened in new multi-function buildings some time in
2015.
iPADS at the Library
Three iPad tablets are available to patrons at the Main Library, two in
the Periodicals Reading Room, one in the Children's Department. The tablets
may be borrowed for two hours, but they may be used only in the Library.
Patrons cannot install applications on the iPads. However, a few
applications have been installed, and patrons may suggest new ones.
